While the rich and famous get the most publicity, they aren't the only ones involved in robbery. It may seem so, but it is only because their relationship is more newsworthy than the average person. During my research for this article, I found online communities and support groups for many people involved in these types of relationships every day. They describe the nature of their relationship as more "age gap" than crib robbing (sounds nicer). There are also less sophisticated groups with young ladies (and men) looking to meet a cradle robber, such as sugardaddybabes.com and dateamillionaire.com.
Do you know the cradle robber? Or maybe you are one? Read the instructions and you can do the math yourself to see if you fit the instructions.
A cradle robber is a person who touches people much younger than himself. If X is the older person's age, then they are labeled as crib robbers if they date someone less than half their age and younger than 7 years. But for this function to work, X must be greater than or equal to 18 as dictated by Urban Dictionary http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=cradle%20robber.
Example: Demi More was 42 when she married Ashton Kutcher (27) in 2005. 42 divided by 2 plus 7 is 28, but Ashton was 27, so Demi became a cradle robber (Demi, by the way!) .
I struggled with putting the people on this list in order. It was hard to decide who was more of a cradle robber: the one who was more in a relationship, or the one who really stretched that age gap?
1. Demi Moore
Ashton Kutcher was 7 years old when Demi Moore starred as 'Jules' in St. Elmo's Fire (1985). He is 16 years younger than her and they have been together for 5 years. Everyone knows about Demi and Ashton and Demi and Bruce before that. Here are two more relationships that helped Demi Moore land on our list:
Oliver Withcomb – Moore met him in 2001. He is a martial arts instructor and seven years younger than her.
I only give her one crib because the other two relationships were so short. Also, it looks like Kutcher and Moore are very happy, and I think we're all ready to leave them alone.
2. Michael Douglas
Michael Douglas' first wife, Diandra Luker, was either 19 or 21 years old when they married in 1977, depending on which source you want to believe. He was 33 years old. Their divorce was formalized 23 years later, in 2000. In the same year, Douglas married Catherine Zeta-Jones (she was 31, he was 56). They share the same birthday (September 25), so they are exactly 25 years apart.
Douglas buys a crib for each of his crib-robbing marriages, plus half of the crib was about half his age at the time.
3. Rod Stewart
Penny Lancaster-Stewart - 26 years apart, Rod married Penny in 2007 (She was 62, he was 36).
Rachel Hunter - When they got together in 1990, she was 45 and he was 21.
Kelly Emberg - When they met in 1983, she was 38 and he was 24.
4. Billy Joel
As Billy Joel ages, his wives get younger. He is now married to Katie Lee Joel, who is 32 years his junior. They got married in 2004 when she was 23 and he was 55.
Joel gets 4 cribs because his new wife is only 4 years older than his daughter (Alexa Ray Joel, b. 1985; Katie Lee Joel, b. 1981)
5. Nicolas Cage
He married Alice Kim when he was 19 and she was 40. You don't need to add 7 to realize that this definitely falls into the crib stealing category, so I'll give it 7 cribs instead.
He was a waitress when they met, which is weird because he met ex-wife Patricia Arquette at a deli... maybe he just likes food, not teenagers...
If you're like me, you're in your 30s and have had a crush on Nicolas Cage since Valley Girl. Well, Cage and Kim have been married for over four years now, but don't despair—he has an 18-year-old son—maybe it's time to channel that love and grab yourself some crib!
